Happy Picture Wednesday and Happy 4th!

Happy 4th of July! And of course, a special thanks for all our troops (past and present) and their families. We live in the Land of the Free because of the brave.. and I'm so so proud that my husband is one of those brave! 

Also.. I know you can't see but I'm wearing a stars and stripes bikini in this picture. I just thought the one with my hubby was happier than the one that shows off the stars and stripes by myself. :) 

FYI: In case you're just stumbling across this and don't know.. I am posting a "Happy Picture" (almost) every week on Wednesday during the hub's deployment to help keep things positive despite the separation. And we're over half way there, so less than 26 pictures to go!

    Whooo hoooo for over half way there. I love Happy Picture Wednesday and might borrow the idea for our 2013 deployment (with credit of course).

      I'm so glad to hear you like my Happy Pictures! I kinda borrowed the idea myself from "The Life of an Infantryman's Girl." (She is on my blog roll to the right). She had "Deployment Positive Thursday #1, 2.. etc" and wrote about something positive each week. I just decided not to number mine to be a little more cautious on OPSEC and do a picture instead.

Ranger Care Package & Florida Update

I got a letter last night! The bad news is that he said his chances of recycling were pretty high. He said that he heard rumors that his company had the harshest graders and they also said that they would grade officers harder than the enlisted guys. Great. So I'm praying hard. If he recycles, it pushes back graduation almost a month. He did include a food wish list! He said he was craving baked goods after all of the processed MREs. Ranger students can receive care packages at the end of each phase. Otherwise, they aren't allowed to be sent food, except for non-caffeinated gum. I've been putting gum sticks in each of his letters. He'll be able to bring the food and magazines I send him on the 4 hour bus ride back to Fort Benning after Phase 3. His wishlist included: Cake Mix Cookies Trail Mix Puppy Chow (yes, he underlined this one) Cheese-its Beefy Jerky Pepperoni Slices Peanut M&Ms Magazines (like Runner's World and Outdoor) So last night I ha

MilSO Care Package: Deployment Survival Kit

Yep, you read that right. A care package for MilSOs. I decided that MilSOs (Military Significant Others) should get care packages sometimes too. I got the idea from this really cute Deployment Survival Kit that I found on Pinterest by Scraptastic Voyage. I stole most of the ideas from there, so be sure to check out hers too. I have two girlfriends whose men are about to go through deployments, so I made one for each of them. I took pictures of all the things that I included.
